Verse #059 of 220
Good morning, friends, on this June 13, 2026. As we step into another day filled with both promise and pressure, I want to share a gentle word from Psalm 56:4 that has been resting on my heart: "...I do not fear. What can mere flesh do to me?"
These words come from David in a time of real danger, when enemies surrounded him and uncertainty loomed large. Yet he chose to place his trust not in his own strength or in the shifting opinions of people, but in the steadfast love of God. That same invitation is open to us today.
Many of us are carrying quiet worries right now. Perhaps it is news of ongoing global tensions or economic shifts that make the future feel unsteady. Maybe you are facing a health concern, a difficult conversation at work, or the weight of division in your community and family. In moments like these, the threats can feel very human and very close—mere flesh, as the verse says. But David reminds us that no person, no system, and no circumstance holds ultimate power over the one who trusts in the Lord.
When anxiety rises about what others might say or do, or when fear of failure tries to shrink our hope, we can return to this simple truth. God is greater. His presence is steady when everything else changes. His love does not depend on our performance or on the approval of those around us. This does not mean we ignore real problems or pretend difficulties do not exist. It means we face them with a different center: the unshakable faithfulness of our Father.
Today, take a small step of trust. Speak the verse aloud when a worry surfaces. Reach out to a friend who needs encouragement. Choose kindness even when it feels risky. These ordinary acts become quiet declarations that we will not be ruled by fear.
You are not alone in this. Many hearts are turning toward the same hope on this very day. Let us walk forward together, anchored in the One who holds all things. Whatever today brings, we can say with quiet confidence: I do not fear. What can mere flesh do to me?
